Lineage 2 Essence Class Tier List: How to Read It Properly
A tier list guide for Lineage 2 Essence — what the tiers mean after Rose Vain, why tier lists mislead new players, and how to pick a class you will actually keep.

Tier lists are the most read and least useful Lineage 2 Essence content on the internet — not because the rankings are wrong, but because they answer a question almost nobody actually has.
What the tiers mean
| Tier | Meaning in practice |
|---|---|
| S | Strongest at the top end when fully geared — irrelevant if you are not fully geared |
| A | The classes that carry most content comfortably; where most players should look |
| B | Fully playable, requires more investment for the same result |
| C | Niche or currently out-tuned; still fine if you enjoy it |
Why tier lists mislead
- They measure the top end. A class ranked S on the strength of endgame gear you do not have yet tells you nothing about your next three months.
- They measure one activity. Farming, dungeons and mass PvP reward completely different things. A farming S-tier can be a PvE-competition afterthought.
- They expire. Rose Vain reworked a large part of the roster, and classes moved. Any tier list older than the last major update is a historical document.
- They ignore playstyle. A class you do not enjoy is a class you will abandon — which is a worse outcome than playing a B-tier class for a year.
What to do instead
- Decide your primary content: farming, group PvE, or PvP.
- Shortlist two or three classes that fit that content in the current patch.
- Check which of them were reworked recently — recently tuned classes are usually safe and stable.
- Pick the one whose playstyle you can tolerate for hundreds of auto-hunt hours.
- Commit. One geared character beats three half-geared ones every time.
Where Blood Rose fits
Blood Rose is new, and new classes get tuned gently for their first months, which makes it a defensible choice for anyone who was already thinking about rerolling. It is not automatically the strongest class — it is the one with the least accumulated history, which cuts both ways.
Use tier lists as a filter, not a decision. Your gear, your timezone and your patience decide the game far more than the tier letter does.
